If you were given a chance to go back in time, would you try your best to rewrite the history?

Welcome to The Origin Remake! In 2022's Spring Festival update, we have completely revamped the Origin, the tower defense mode first introduced into the game in v2.5.0 two years ago.

The goal of the game has not yet changed, which is to defend the Magic Stone against waves of enemies swarming into it. You still get to make good use of defense towers, and take full advantage of what those NPCs offer so as to power you up. But in the remake, there is so much more to explore.

The remake has a brand new set of defense towers. The map is much larger, for now the shrine is surrounded by rooms occupied by monsters. NPCs are no longer "right there for you"; That being said, you have to rescue them first before they can aid you in the defense. The Origin no longer has endless waves; You finally have a chance to meet the mastermind of the vicious scheme.

Now, we will break down what's new about the remake in this guide, in the hope that we can give you some ideas on how to cope with the new mechanisms.

Map Overview

The moment you enter The Origin, all challenge conditions and buffs you take in the lobby will no longer be effective.

The map can be divided into 3 areas, which are the main chamber of the shrine, the back chamber and occupied territories. The main chamber is where the Magic Stone is located, and by that, it means that it is the battlefield where you should set up your defense for the onslaught. The back chamber is where all the unlocked NPCs are; Whenever you need to buff up yourself, your towers or weapons, here is the go-to place. The occupied territories are all those rooms surrounding the shrine. They are populated with monsters and so you need clear them in order to obtain precious resources to substain the battle.

Main Chamber

Defense Tower Types

Defense Tower Upgrade Path

Stars

Defeating waves of enemies earn all defense towers stars (18 stars in total). The more stars they have, the higher stats your defense towers enjoy.

Color Tier

The tier of a defense tower, from the lowest to the highest, is white, green, blue, purple, orange, red. To upgrade a defense tower, buy the same defense tower at Mechanical Engineer in the back chamber.

When you go near to the defense tower, you can see its name and its stars. The color of its name indicated which tier it is of.

Waves of Monsters

The Origin has a total of 80 waves of enemies, who will get increasingly stronger as you survive longer in the game. Every 20 waves of enemies, you have to face a boss. But the bright side is, by repulsing every 10 waves of enemies, you will get a chest of rewards in the main chamber.

If you are getting better and better, later in the game you may want to interact with the Magic Stone to start the next wave of enemies to skip the waiting time.

Back Chamber

NPCs

In the back chamber, you can find a total of 6 NPCs who can aid you in the fight. The one that is most worth pointing out is probably Warehouse, for your weapon is the second most important asset for you to hold off enemies. As you dive deep into the occupied territories, you will find a ton of weapons of little use, which will be stored later in Warehouse. Those useless weapons have a chance to be remade into a very powerful one that may be the key to winning the battle. This may be the most economic way of getting yourself a good firearm.

Tip: Can't run into what you have in mind? Interact with Shrine Priestess, Weapon Master, Mechanical Engineer, Trader to refresh products they offer/sell at the cost of some game resources (coins, Alien Coins, gems).

Occupied Territory

Mutated monsters

Tips: All monsters can go through mutation. You can loot more and better stuff by defeating mutated monsters. But remember, only alien monsters (enemies in the Alien Spaceship biome) can drop Alien Coins.

Territory Types

In occupied territories, besides monsters, you will also run into...

Goldmines

You can install a Mining Machine on the goldmine in the occupied territory to earn more coins.

Cages

Break the cages to save the NPCs who will prove to be of great help to you!

Portals

After you clear the rooms, a portal will spawn in the center. Wheverer you are, you can tap on the mini-map icon and then tap on the portal room to teleport yourself to that place.

Boss

Defeating the boss in the occupied territory gets you General Blueprint Fragment to make jewelry at Shaman! Statues, Mount Merchant, Mercenary, Bar, etc.
