Soul Knight's Summer Update: Easier for Beginners, Tougher for Veterans, and Better Than Ever
1. Beginner-Friendly Stuff to Make Your First Steps Easier
1.1 Newbie Buff
The newbie buff was introduced 2 years ago, giving beginners an upper hand over monstrous enemies in the dungeon as they take baby steps into the unknown realm. Blessed by the newbie buff, novitiates have a higher chance to find overpowered weapons during a run, while monsters are somewhat nerfed in their health, move speed and attack intervals. In this summer update, we are gonna upscale the newbie buff, by changing its uses from 6 to 8, nerfing the bullet speed of enemies, and increasing the drop rate of energy orbs from broken crates.
1.2 7-Day Sign-In
Beginners who sign in to the game for a total of 7 days can get different rewards every day by interacting with Wandering Merchant in the lobby.

1.3 Design Table Labels
Items that are developable are put under different categories on the Design Table menu.
1.4 Lower Bar to Achieve Golden Frames
To make the silver frame and the golden frame for enemy kills more attainable, we've reduced the requirement slightly. With more and more enemies being introduced to the game, it is only fair for us to do so as a certain type of enemy will show up less frequently during a run.
2. Only for the Most Skilled Players
While assisting rookies to navigate through uncharted waters, we remain mindful of the adrenaline-seeking old salt. To satiate their desire for thrill, we have introduced a brand new difficulty level to Rosemary Island. Difficulty Level 6 features random floors, more ferocious "local fauna & flora", and of course, more handsome outcomes!
2.1 New Difficulty Level 6
Random enemies from a wider range of diversity will spawn on each floor. Some bosses who once did a number on you in games on a lower difficulty level, have now been "demoted" to no-big-whoop elites that you can bump into anytime. In their stead, Dendroid King, Witch of the Mist, and Night Wanderer, each will be the boss for Sneak Attack 5/10/15.
To compensate for the perilous circumstances, each run will yield more Season Coins, Gems, Basic Materials, and Legendary Buff Seeds. There is a slim chance that you'll be teleported to a floor populated by Giant Golden Crabs, whose dead claws will respectfully present you with the most lucrative amount of Rosemary Beans you've ever seen in your life. On account of the new difficulty, the limit of the Season Coins you can earn per run has been changed to 1500, and the overflowing amount will be converted to gems.
2.2 All-Singing, All-Dancing Mythical Weapons
Get ready to dominate your enemies with the Butterfly Dance, a staff that unleashes tracking bullets. What makes this weapon truly beautiful is that once it enters an enhanced state, it consumes absolutely no energy.
And if you're looking for an electrifying experience, look no further than the Laser Lance. This optoelectronic gun packs a powerful punch that can inflict an electro-charged effect on your foes when fully charged.
2.3 Mythical Weapons Crafting Materials Change
*The cost of gems remains unchanged in this update.
3. Discover Exciting Changes
3.1 Weapon Revamp
Floating Gun & Floating Laser Gun
Floating Gun has been spruced up into a 2-barrel iron, whose attack speed increases the longer it stays hot. Its laser variant has been remodeled into 3 guns -- you'll be holding 2 guns in your hand with an extra one floating and auto-attacking any foe that dares to come near.
Cannibal Plant
Now the weapon finally owns up to its name! With this weapon in hand, every third attack will summon a carnivorous follower to fight alongside. Even if you're just carrying it in your back pocket, the summon comes every 10 seconds. Are you ready to unleash the power of nature on your enemies?
Super Rocket Fireworks
Get ready to celebrate with the latest addition to our arsenal - the brand new red weapon dropped by Boss Nian! This explosive weapon showers you with festive bombs around the clock, offering three unique attack modes for the price of one.
3.2 Tweakin' Some Skills
*Characters' passives (i.e. starting buffs that you get by increasing your character level) remain unchanged in this update. Buffs listed here, such as the shotgun buff and the combo-hit buff, are buffs that can improve the character's skills once you have obtained them before or during a run. Please do not mistake them for the passives.
4. The Best Way to Get More from Your Game
4.1 Gashapon Machine
This magical gadget that has entranced so many players into willingly handing over their shiny sheeny gems has returned -- not just with the collection of "Masterwork of Demonmancer", but also the frags of 2 spanking new skins.
Summer Update Gashapon Drop Rate:
Items | Percentage | Items | Percentage |
---|---|---|---|
Skins/Skin Frags | 8% | Challenge Condition | 32% |
Weapons | 35% | Gems | 9% |
Bombs | 3% | Others | 13% |
Health Potion | 0% | - | - |
Some kind reminders before you go splurging your gems:
- The use limit has been changed to 80 chances per day.
- Challenge Conditions drawn from the Gashapon Machine will be those that have a chance to show on the Task Board, excluding the 4 conditions of the Daily Challenge.
- Once you have obtained 4 Challenge Conditions from Gashapon Machine, the Gashapon Machine will no longer drop Challenge Conditions before you take your run!
- Don't like a Challenge Condition falling from the machine? You don't have a chance to say no for it will be auto-picked up.
- You won't have duplicate Challenge Conditions (for one single run) or skins from the machine.
- If you fail to pull out a skin/skin frag 19 times in a row, you are guaranteed to get one on the 20th.
4.2 Fridge 2.0: SK Shop
With so many things being retextured and upgraded over the 6 years, it is very hard to believe that the fridge has never changed, either functionally or physically... until this very update. Given a new name Friggy and an overly talkative persona, the Fridge has transformed from a vending machine where you pick up a hefty bag of gems, to a well-packed moving bodega that covers all your shopping needs, including those that have to be found in Season Shop and Lucky Cat Shop.
Products for sale are categorized under Hot, Skin, Character, Skill, Limited-Time, and Currency. Out of all the goodies you can buy, the "Hot" column is definitely worth a mention. It is a range of good deals of bundled skins, gems, etc. for players of different levels. If you already own one or several non-consumable items in a pack, you can still purchase the pack as the items already owned will be converted into gems.
