Robotic Frenzy Season Mode Tutorial
Dr. O, the leading scientist in the Soul Continent, had set out for a field trip to Down Grave, a cemetery for burying robots produced by alien invaders in the times of war. Yet the pursuit of the esoteric alien technology almost cost Dr. O his life, for Warden, who ran the prison-like netherworld, had cried havoc and let slip the dogs of war...
The new season Robotic Frenzy is a survival game in which you ride on an armor mount to fight off undead robots jumping at you from all directions, rescue trapped Mecha Squad members, collect fuels in designated positions, and power the rocket that will take you and Dr. O out of the place. All have to be completed in 20 minutes, though the countdown will pause for more frantic boss fights such as battles against fuel guardians and Warden.
1.1 Enemies
One game session includes 2 phases, each of which consists of 5 waves of various enemies that attack in their unique ways, or operate in assorted formations. Enemies will get increasingly intimidating as you progress throughout the game.
At the later stage of a game, you will be pestered by Spell Breakers, who absorb your energy when it is needed most as more and more enemies are closing in.
1.2 Where to Farm Resources
Treasure chests are scattered across Down Grave. They contain resources including arms, parts, health potions, and Season Coins. Upon opening these chests, enemies begin to spawn in. Be sure to kill them quickly so that you can make a clean escape once you've looted everything.
1.3 Destined Rendezvous
Captured members of the Mecha Squad may occasionally be found in the underworld. They were elite soldiers from another timeline that were held in captivity by Warden after a failed attempt to rescue Dr. O. If you get to free them from their cages, they can prove to be powerful aids in the run.
Enemies will be ambushing you around the cage. What makes it a bit more tricky is that Mecha Squad members need some time to fix their broken mechas before they can throw themselves into the fight. When they are in the middle of the mecha overhaul, it is best that you protect them from enemy barrages. Otherwise, they won't be alive by the time they can help out. Plus, don't expect them to save your skin during the whole run because their time of service to you only lasts for a short duration.
Rescuing NPCs isn't a required quest in the season mode. As the timer ticks, you may find it harder to spare time rescuing all captured NPCs you meet. Therefore, it is perfectly reasonable to skip some if not all cages when you have a more pressing matter - collecting fuels.
1.4 Fuel Storeroom
Positions to collect fuels have been marked on the mini-map. Fuel is stored in a walled-in room guarded by a boss enemy.
If you don't know how to avoid these traps and obstacles, you are basically offering the boss your life.
You can check the stats of your season gear during a run by pressing the pause button.
2.1 Character Skill
Characters are given slightly different skills in this season. That means all skills they possess in Level Mode can't be used in Robotic Frenzy. In the lobby, when you select a character, tap on Switch to Season Gear in the bottom left corner of the screen to check their season-special skill.
Legendary Heroes can't be used in this season!
2.2 Armor Mount
Right after you enter the portal to start a session, you will be asked to choose one armor mount from three, on which you will ride during the whole run. You and the armor mount become ONE - the stats of the armor mount are now your stats, regardless of what stats the character possesses in Level Mode, and once the mount is destroyed, your whole mission blows off. No extra revival chance in this season.
Different armor mounts have different initial arms and stats (damage multiplier, health, armor, movement speed). Armor mounts that are available for selection in the season mode are:
3 season skins (Flashback of Elf, Moonsteel of Paladin, Bloodred of Vampire) have exclusive armor mounts, initial arms, and season skills. Please note that only when you use any of these three skins and their exclusive armor mounts respectively can you use their special season skills.
2.3 Cogwheels
Cogwheels drop when enemies are defeated. When the cogwheel gauge is full, you get to upgrade 1 equipped gear piece (arms and parts) out of 3.
2.4 Arms
2.4.1 What are Arms?
Arms are your weapons, your main mode of attack. All arms have 2 initial stats - attack power and energy cost. Arms can be upgraded during a run.
We have up to 20 arms in the current version!
2.4.2 About the Pickup of Arms
Arms can be found in treasure chests. Besides the initial arm, you can equip yourself with 3 more arms during a run. After you are equipped with 4 arms, you can't pick up another one unless you replace it with an equipped weapon.
When you are short of energy, arms that are picked up first are given higher priority to attack. You can sort the order of arms on the character panel by pausing the game.
2.4.3 About the Quality of Arms
Arms come in 3 qualities, which are green, blue, and purple. All initial arms are of the blue quality, except for those of the exclusive armor mounts, which are purple.
The major difference between arms of different qualities is the highest level they can reach. Green arms can be upgraded to level 4, blue ones 6, while the purple ones are maxed out at 8. Arms of higher quality are less likely to be found during a run.
2.5 Parts
2.5.1 What are Parts?
Parts are assorted buffs that can be granted to the armor mount. A part can be upgraded to level 5 at max.
2.5.2 About the Pickup of Parts
Treasure chests can drop a blue kit, which contains 3 random parts for you to choose one. You can equip yourself with 6 parts at most, after which, if you again find a part, you can replace it but not equip it.
2.6 Chips
2.6.1 What are Chips?
Chips have one or two main attributes and refined attributes. Main attributes are a direct boost to the stats of the armor mount, while refined attributes are a passive skill granted to it.
Types of Chips
All chips in the game fall into 4 categories - Assault, Survival, Charge, and Special. Each category consists of 4 different chips.
2.6.2 About the Use of Chips
How to obtain chips?
- During a run: You may find a chip in the treasure chest that drops after a fuel guardian is defeated. Chips obtained during a run can't be taken out to the lobby.
- Out in the lobby: Chips can be purchased in Season Shop.
- Out in the lobby: Rewards of season achievements.
Unlike in Level Mode, it is quite limited in what you can do to prepare yourself for a run in Robotic Frenzy. All buffs and weapons forged in the lobby can't be taken into the season mode. That makes chips the only ability-enhancing items that you can equip beforehand. Chips obtained & upgraded in the lobby are permanent buffs in the season mode that applies to all characters.
You can equip yourself with 4 chips at most, but 2 chip slots need to be unlocked with gems or Season Coins. Note that you can't equip 2 chips of the same type at the same time.
The unlock of a chip slot is per-character base.
2.6.3 About Upgrading Chips
Refined Attribute
- During a run: if you find another chip that is identical to an equipped one, the refined level of the equipped chip goes up.
- Out in the lobby: go to Season Shop and buy a Season Supply Crate which contains a random chip. If you get the same chip that you've already owned, that specific chip's refined attribute levels up.
Main Attribute
Upgrade it in the lobby by consuming Season Coins. It can't be done during a run.
3.1 Season Shop
3.1.1 What is Season Shop?
Season Shop can be accessed in the lobby by tapping on the Season Coin button in the top right corner. It is a place where you can spend Season Coins on season skins and Season Supply Crates.
3.1.2 What is Season Supply Crate?
A Season Supply Crate is guaranteed to give you one chip. Each chip (16 in total in this version) spawns in the chest at an equal rate of 6.25%. If you draw a chip that you've already owned, the chip's refined attribute will increase.
You can buy up to 35 crates per week.
3.1.3 What are Season Coins?
You can grind Season Coins by playing more games in the season mode and completing quests. You can also buy them in Season Shop via micro-transaction.
3.2 Quests & Achievements
Daily quests are quests that you can do once every day to earn Season Coins, while Season Quests are those that can be done once only during the whole season to earn trophies and 2 special chips.
3.2.1 Daily Quests
3.2.2 Season Quests
Unlike in previous seasons, when you were given a list of different missions to earn different trophies, in this season, the list of quests remains the same. Every time you complete a season quest or sub-task of a big quest, you will notice that the progress bar under the trophy you are yet to earn moves forward a bit, indicating that you are one step closer to your goal.
4.1 Controls Tips
Attack direction is in accordance with the movement direction. To fixate your weapon pointing in a specific direction, hold the attack button. In a lot of cases, in order to survive, you need to run forward while shooting enemies chasing you behind. How to make it happen? Face the enemies, hold the attack button, and then move in the opposite direction.
Though auto-aim isn't working this season, there is still a certain level of aiming assistance. We understand that for some players, this change in the controls just "doesn't feel right". We are working to optimize the control experience in the coming updates.
4.2 Chips in Future Updates
Chips that you've upgraded can be inherited after this season is over. As for the conditions to inherit these chips, we will later make a public announcement to reveal more details.
